Harmonica Almanac – April 21
Acoustic Blues artist Paul Geremia was born on this day in 1944. Geremia sings, plays guitar and harmonica and has recorded several albums of his own music as well as recording with other Blues artists like Eric Von Schmidt, Dave Von Ronk and others.
Two-time world harmonica champion Jim McLaughlin was born on this day in 1952. He’s been playing since the 1970’s, teaches harmonica at a local college and plays regularly in the Seattle area.
Blues singer, guitar and harmonica player Keri Leigh settled into the Austin, Texas music scene in 1990 and has been performing and recording ever since. She also is a writer who publishes books and articles on a variety of Blues-related topics. Leigh was born on this day in 1969.
Blues guitar and harmonica player Earl Hooker died on this day in 1970. Hooker was a cousin of John Lee Hooker and he would play music on the street for tips with his friend Bo Diddley. Over the years he recorded several albums as well as appearing on the “Ready, Steady Go” TV show with the Beatles.
