Classical composer Luciano Chailly was born on this day in 1920. Chailly wrote “Improvvisazione No. 9 for Harmonica, Strings and Percussion” for John Sebastian in 1962.
Blues guitar and harmonica player Joe Johnson taught himself how to play as a youngster. He began playing professionally in 1959. Johnson was born on this day in 1942.
Baseball legend Stan Musial died on this day in 2013. In addition to being a legendary player for the St. Louis Cardinals, Musial loved to play the harmonica and even wrote a book on how to play the harmonica.
